Coats that Comfort 2nd Annual Coat Drive

PHILANTHROPY THAT COMFORTS
Creative & healthcare entrepreneurs  teaming up with The Salvation Army in Greater Columbus to give back to the communities of Central Ohio for the Coats that Comfort 2nd Annual Coat Drive.
Columbus, Ohio – November 2010 – As the mercury begins to dip into the teens in this beautiful metropolis, many adults and children of Central Ohio find themselves struggling to afford the basic necessity of proper cold-weather attire.  Phenology Premium Soft Goods, Niki Zoë Vickers of The Repertoire Collective, LifeSaver Health Care, LLC and Shades of Ebony Events Inc. have joined forces with the Salvation Army, to host the 2nd Annual “Coats that Comfort” coat drive.  The idea for “Coats that Comfort” was created by the eco friendly Phenology’s Michael Oliver and The Repertoire Collective’s Miss Vickers in 2009 and through their efforts, over 350 new and gently used coats were made available to those in need. This year with the help of LifeSaver Health Care and Shades of Ebony, the goal has increased to 500 coats through collecting, sorting and delivering donations to the Salvation Army.

The dwindling unemployment rate of 9.7% in Ohio is still presenting a challenge for many Columbus families needing the help of those in their community with coat donations to stay warm this winter. The organizers of “Coats that Comfort” recognized that the financial struggles facing countless Central Ohioans can be helped by simply becoming proactive again in 2010 and give back. The coat drive will take place from November 11th through December 2nd and donations can be dropped off at conveniently located donation hubs throughout the city.  Starting December 3rd, “Coats that Comfort” donations will be made available at the seven Salvation Army locations via a pre-registered voucher program*.

For more information on how to make a donation, locate a donation hub or for a sponsorship/media kit,  please contact the organizers at coatsthatcomfort@gmail.com or log onto http://philanthropyisthenewblack.blogspot.com   * Pre-registration for the voucher program can be set up by contacting a case worker at  614.221.6561.
