Columbus, Ohio – September 2009 - With the chill of the winter months vastly approaching this beautiful metropolis, many adults and children of Central Ohio find themselves struggling to afford the basic necessity of proper cold-weather attire. Phenology Premium Soft Goods and Repertoire PR + Marketing Collective have joined forces with the Salvation Army, to host the “Coats that Comfort” 1st Annual Coat Drive. “Coats that Comfort” was created by the eco friendly streetwear label and fashion stylist/brand strategist to help at least 300 individuals through collecting, sorting and distributing* donations of new and gently used coats.
Holding at a frightening 11.1%, the unemployment rate in Ohio leaves many Columbus families needing the help of those in their community to help with coat donations to stay warm this winter. The organizers of “Coats that Comfort” recognized that the financial struggles facing countless Central Ohioans can be helped by simply becoming proactive and giving back to those in need.
This philanthropic venture will be a two part initiative which will consist of a coat drive and two “sort parties”. The coat drive portion of the initiative will take place from October 5 through October 31 and donations can be dropped off at conveniently located “donation pop ups” (hubs) throughout the city. The “Coats that Comfort” sort parties will be held on October 17th and November 7th at the Salvation Army sorting facility at Village Square Shopping Center (6502 Riverside Dr) in Dublin during the hours of 9a – 12 noon.
For more information on how to make a donation, locate a donation pop up, sign up to volunteer for a “sort party “, how to pre-register to obtain a coat donation or for a sponsorship/media kit, please contact Michael Oliver or Niki Zoë Vickers at coatsthatcomfort@gmail.com or log onto http://philanthropyisthenewblack.blogspot.com Distribution of the collected coats will be made by pre-registration at one of the Salvation Army Worship and Service Centers during the month of October.
